Fairy Jar with Ava Gavloski

Hello, Ava here today to share some of my favourite chipboard pieces from Southern Ridge Trading Company for our current “My Favourites challenge” that Southern Ridge is hosting this month.  I used  2 chipboard embellishments.
Flourish Hair Fairy  and Mini Ocean Set from the Miniatures Collection.

I am still holding tight to the summer breezes and decided to make an ocean/lake themed Mason Jar Light.  If you Google Mason Jar DIY’s you will find many great inspirational projects.

To start off with you will need to clean your jar as well as the lid.

Take your Fairy chipboard and moisten with a bit of water, shape over the outside of the jar and tape down with some washi tape, allow to dry.  This will give your chipboard a bevelled shape making it easier to insert into the jar and adhere to the inside of the jar.  Remove the dried chipboard fairy to proceed to the next set.

Measure out your tissue paper to cover the height of the glass jar with a bit extra of tissue paper to wrap under the bottom of the jar.

Starting with the good side of your jar, use some white liquid glue, watered down a bit and paint half of the jar with glue and place you tissue paper on the jar.  Gently smooth down the tissue paper with your fingers.  Continue this process around the jar.
TIP: Once you have started the tissue paper, place your hand inside the jar and work with your other hand, brushing and smooth until all is covered and secure.  Allow to dry well.

I was designing my Mason Jar while enjoying the lake and took a quick photo prior to complete embellishment, so here is a relaxing photo as the sun was setting.  This I hope will give everyone some inspiration and visit the Southern Ridge Trading Co. shop to purchase some of these fairies for your next DIY.

To finish off  my jar, I painted the dolphins from the Mini Oceans Set with some pigment powder, strung and tied the dolphins around the neck of the jar using May Arts String.  Applied some Fairy Dust Glitter, shells, inked cheesecloth and May Arts Lace.
I think these mason jar lights are addictive.
You could order several chipboard fairies and have multiple jar’s designed for
each season of the year.
